Dreamgirl

Valentine's Day

"When I first saw you, I said oh my, that's a dream, that's my dream.  I needed a dream, when it all seemed to go bad. Then I found you. And I have had the most beautiful dreams, any man's ever had".

"When I first saw you.  I said oh my, oh my. That's my dream. That's my dream.  I needed a dream, to make me strong.  You were the only reason I had to go on. "

These are the lyrics from the song, "When I First Saw You", from the Dreamgirls movie soundtrack.  These words captured exactly how I felt when I first saw and met my wife.   I couldn't have asked for a better wife than her.  She is truly the woman of my dreams.

Today, millions of people celebrate valentine's day.  Also, about the same amount of people wish they had a "dream person" to spend today with.  Relationships can be tough sometimes.  So can being single.  It is my suggestion that we should enjoy every season of life that we are currently in.

So this Valentine's day,  I will enjoy my life and marriage with my wife, Nicci Willis.  She is living proof that dreams do come true!

If you are married or in a relationship, be inspired to take some time and tell that special person how you care about them.  And if you are single and desiring the person of your dreams, be encouraged that although no one is perfect, but "dreams" still do come true.

Happy Valentine's Day!

"The Quiescent Period"

Earlier this week, I was reading about the germination process.  In my readings, I found out that there are many external conditions that play a major role in a seed growing into a plant, fruit, or whatever it is to be.  Some of the conditions are the right temperature, amount of oxygen and water,  and the right amount of darkness or light in order for the germination process to begin.

I found out that most seeds go through a period where there is no active growth called the quiescent period.   It is during this time,  that the seed can be safely moved to a new location, and can safely survive adverse climate conditions, until circumstances are more favorable for growth.

Quiescent seeds are ripe seeds that don't germinate because they are subject to external conditions that prevent the cell growth.  Under favorable conditions, the seed begins to germinate and resume growth.

Our dreams are like seeds planted in the soil of our minds.  We have planted those seeds and have waited and waited, and it seems like it's taking forever for those dreams to become a reality.

It's an age old saying, but it's true that "a watched pot never boils".  We can't be "seed watchers", waiting for our dreams to come true.

Just like a seed goes through a quiescence period where it seems like nothing is happening, our dreams also go through a period where it seems like nothing is happening.

Me must prepare the soil, our minds, in order to create favorable conditions, to see our dreams become a reality.  You have to cultivate and nurture your dream; invest time, money and effort on your dream.  Give your seed time to grow.  Let it stay in the dirt/darkness until the proper time. But don't have your dream too far down in the soil; in the back of your mind.

Don't be a seed watcher, water the seed!

It's important for us to not mistake this period of waiting until the necessary conditions are met, for failure.  Let us be aware of the necessary conditions for growth, so that we don't "watch the pot" and become "seed watchers".

"Our Dreams Are Worth It!"

At one time or another everybody has, will have, or has had a dream. A dream is a goal, a plan, or a vision of what you would like to have, be, or achieve in your life.

I have always been a dreamer. For as long as I can remember, I could always close my eyes and imagine what the future could hold for my life.

Now some people think that having a dream is a waste of time, or something that can never be obtained. Many because of difficulties, discouragements, and obstacles have even given up on their dreams.

But in the back of our heads, no matter how far or distant that dream my now seem, it still exists. And every now and then a picture, a commercial, or conversation reminds us of our dream.

We often ask ourselves the question, "what would my life be like if I would have done that?" Or make statements like, "I used to want to be that".

Is your dream worth pursuing? Is it worth the time to even consider in this time period and present state of the economy? Will people "get" your dream? With everything that has happened in your life, is it really worth it?

Let me tell you about my dream. My dream will allow me to do what I love, and to love what I do. My dream will allow me to provide for my wife and children, and their children. My dream will help the world live a better quality of life on a daily basis. My dream will teach, motivate, and inspire others to pursue and reach their dreams.

I have determined and decided that my dream is worth it. Our dreams are always worth it. Contrary to popular belief, we are not the product of our circumstances. No circumstance is never enough to give up on our dreams.

Today, let us put one foot in front of the other and see our dreams. We are worth it!
